Becoming a person of relevance series
Topic: Consecration- the key to relevance in all realms.
Text: Acts 19:13-17

Date: 15th March 2026
Preacher: Pst. Femi Oluwatimehin

‭‭Acts‬ ‭19‬:‭15‬ ‭KJV‬‬ (Verse of emphasis)
“And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?”

There are basically two realms;
1. Spiritual realm
2. Physical realm
The spiritual controls the physical. Oftentimes, manifestation things on earth have been concluded in the spiritual realm.

The spiritual realm can either be Divine and Dark (Psalm74:15)
To be relevant in both spiritual and physical realms, you need Consecration

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭28‬:‭41‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.”

What is Consecration?

  • Consecration is from you to God - it comes from your willpower. Once you yield then God supplies the grace (Dan1:8 - Daniel proposed in his heart).
  • Before the manifestation of the excellent spirit on Daniel, he consecrated himself first (Dan1:8) to God. It was after the consecration that he became relevant.
  1. Setting apart for the Lord’s use (not for personal use)
  2. Deliberate decision to live a life yielded to God
  3. Fully devoted to God
  4. Running your life by a set of principles and values that restrict you in such a way that will help you to fulfill all that God wants you to be.
  5. Given yourself fully to the ownership of God - skills, talents, time etc.
  6. A lifestyle of discipline and devotion
  7. A lifestyle of alignment to God
  8. Separated yourself from worldly influence to pursue intimacy with God.

Biblical examples of consecrated life

  1. Daniel (Dan 1:8) - proposed in his heart
  2. Joseph (Gen 39:9) - refused to sleep with the master’s wife.
  3.  Abraham (Gen 12:1) - obeyed the call to leave his father’s country.
  4. Job (Job 31:1-4) - made a covenant with his eyes.

Areas we need to consecration
1. Heart (Matt 22:27; Deut 6:4) - Our hearts matter to God. Everything (good/evil) flows from your heart. Think on good things (Phil 4:8)
2. Body (Rom12:1) - The body is the temple of the living God and not for unrighteousness.
3. Time (Eph5:16) - Give it to the Lord. E.g Read (for information), Study (for transformation), and meditate (to be like God) on the word of God; Fasting; Evangelism; Developing skills; Listening to messages.
4. Resources - money, talents, relationships,

Consecration

  • In every generation, God looks and searches out for consecrated persons
  • Education and skills can make a man known but consecration makes a person relevant
